To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X8080 R3/ML.9.25. EAC. CARBURETTER - EXHAUST HEATING VERSUS WATER HEATING. X. 8080 X. 8230 With reference to the exhaust heating of the EAC. carburetter, I have come to the conclusion that this probably makes the carburetter hotter than we desire, and as we have already got the opinion that the butterfly valve in the exhaust is a perfect nuisance, I shall be glad if you can arrange to cancel this arrangement, and go back to a water heated throttle as soon as you have proved that it will be as satisfactory in the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I as in the Silver Ghost.
