X 2894 W/N. To Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} from EFC. EFC2/AD1 7.5.30. X. 2894. TUNGSTEN CONTACT POINTS. You will by now have received a copy of our EFCL/AD1 4.5.30. We have, from time to time, received several letters from Mr.Minchin complaining of the tungsten contact points on his 20 H.P. car (he sometimes calls them platinum but surely they are tungsten. Would you please confirm this). We are somewhat anxious concerning the satisfactory operation of ignition, and it seems rather difficult to get information of a more technical nature as to what is exactly the reason of the unsatisfactory running. It would help us considerably if you could give us more detailed information as to what has been wrong with Mr.Minchin's car and whether it is really due to the tungsten points. In this connection we attach a copy of our EFCL/AD3.3.30 the contents of which I believe By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is now arranging to circulate to depots. What we are anxious to know is, assuming that the fault is due to ignition at all, whether it is due to incorrect bedding of the tungsten points and whether, if the recommendations contained in our EFCL/AD3.3.30 are reasonably well carried out, the troubles still persist also whether it is a general complaint. It is in the nature of things, one which would show up more definitely on the 20 HP. than on the Phantom. We should much appreciate a detailed answer giving your impression of the whole matter. EFC. Copy of memo attached. | ||
