X4574 CUAS/X/22. Cambridge University Air Squadron, Royal Air Force, Netheravon, Wilts. 7th July, 1933. S.W. Grylls, Esq., c/o Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Mr Grylls, Thank you for your letter HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GRY.{Shadwell Grylls}4/KT dated June 28th. I have gone into the possibilities of using the wind tunnel at the Aeronautical Laboratory at Cambridge for the streamlining experiment of your Bentley models. The tunnel is in constant use during term time for research work and teaching and I had hoped to find that there would be someone available to carry out the tests during the vacation. I am sorry to say that I find that the limited time when the research students will be working at Cambridge during the vacation will be entirely occupied on aeronautical work in the tunnel. I am afraid, therefore, that I was rather too optimistic in my former letter, and I am afraid that it does not look as if I shall be able to be of much assistance to you on the lines you suggest. It is disappointing, because it would have been very interesting to see the results of modifying your models to different shapes. Continued. | ||
