Dear Mr.Mason,

I left the sideways accelerometer with your caretaker last night and he promised to hand it to you the right way up this morning. By the time I reached Cambridge the red column had disappeared entirely off the scale, which seems to confirm what I previously told you, namely, that every time it is fitted to a car which is driven on a bumpy road the zero error increases, and on this last occasion by a large amount.

Paul Dykes is coming over to see me for the T.T. on September 3rd. and I am wondering if you could have it working again so that he could bring it back. Just at the moment we are in need of it for some experiments we are doing.

Yours sincerely,
