To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} 35h Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}2/JH.5.5.37. Phantom III No.6 Unit. Will you please arrange to have standard Phantom III double valve springs fitted to this unit as early as possible. We find it is impossible to run above 4000 r.p.m. with existing single springs used in conjunction with silent tappets. This unit is being used for tests on Hykro cam followers using E.P. oil and it is therefore essential that we should reproduce the condition we have usually run tappet tests under.
