The armoured car people some time ago found trouble with the cooling of the standard car on the sand test, and they asked us to look into the question of improving the efficiency of the cooling arrangement.

We think that the alteration in the gear ratio, brought about by the new axle will overcome this difficulty but in the event of this not being so, we would like to have something "up our sleeves", and it is suggested that a cowl over the radiator, and surrounding the fan would have the effect of being-ing into play portions of the radiator which at present are dead when one is depending on the fan alone, as one is on the sand test.

Would it be possible to rig up simply an aluminium cowl covering the whole of the radiator and surrounding the tips of the fan blades with a small clearance, and then to say whether there is a definite improvement in the cooling by this means.

We did, as a matter of fact, promise the India Office that we would carry out an experiment of this kind.
