Installation (a) Rear Absorbers - Chassis 1 - on These should be mounted as per sketch "A" attached. Particular attention should be given to correct frame location and drilling as shown. Various dimensions are as follows: From center line of swivel pin crossmember 10.750" - Chassis 1-1700 11.350" - Chassis 1701-2500 14.600" - Chassis 2501 - on From level top of frame 2.500" - Chassis 1-1700 2.750" - Chassis 1701-2500 2.750" - Chassis 2501 - on For long wheelbase chassis of the 1701-2500 series, a special rear axle ball stud bracket (M-1839/40) is required. Care must be used to see that the correct fittings for this design are installed. (b) Front Absorbers - Chassis 2401 - ON For this fitting the shock absorber has been arranged for use with the triangular axle control bracket as shown in sketch "B-1". The arrangement should be carried out as follows: 1. Remove old shock absorber and the triangular control bracket from the chassis. The ball stud should also be removed from the top. 2. Bed new ball stud M-1777 in old ball pads, and leave them in place. See Maintenance Bulletin 310-19. 3. Free axle from springs and add taper packings between axle and springs till pivot lean is 2°. Do not fit a compensating taper packing on top of the spring unless one is already there in which case do not change it. [STAMP: RECEIVED RR LTD 29 APR 1931] | ||
