SPARE WHEEL CARRIER. --------------------- Referring to the spare wheel carrier instructed up in accordance with N.Scheme 2420, please note that as a result of us taking this matter up with Sales, and referring Sales' criticisms back to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town, this design of spare wheel carrier which raised the wheel 3" to avoid as much of the trough as possible usually carried in the running board, has been cancelled by both Sales and West WitteringHenry Royce's home town. Will RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} kindly stop work on the parts in question in view of the fact that the side spare wheel carrier for use with a rear spare wheel carrier now reverts to the standard type with the exception of the centre fixings, which of course have to be interchangeable with the rear. It will be necessary for us to obtain an early settlement of the question of whether the fixing at the rear as modified by West WitteringHenry Royce's home town is sufficiently good. We have had to order the first half of E.2. Series of the present type. We shall have to order the second half immediately after the holidays, and unless the Experimental can definitely inform us that the modified scheme is right, we shall have to carry on for a further 100 cars without the rear spare wheel carrier.
