X.4227 Extract from R7/M30.12.21. X.4219. (10) INDUCTION PIPES X.4227. Although the system of collectors and vaporisers on the 40/50 does so well when starting from cold I think that we should not lose sight of its limitations. It has the disadvantage of a long memory and is therefore not suitable for use alone. Apart from the collectors some device which gives an immediate reponse must be employed such as a hot spot or exhaust heated throttle which should have an undelayed vapourising effect, so that no fuel is temporarily lost to be afterwards passed through the engine as excessively rich mixture.
