contd:- -2- tyre as the lesser of the evils. In the case of one of our cars running in France, they were only carrying one spare wheel and were on the way from Boulogne to Biarritz. It was not possible to obtain a spare ring at any of the places at which they called so the car had to travel the whole time without a spare wheel. We do not understand how it is that some of the rings come off and some stay on. We should like to hear from you whether it would be feasible to arrange a test to be able to reject the wheels on which the rims come off. At the present time we are doing all we know to push the straight-sided tyre but we shall have great difficulties unless we can convince our people that the trouble of the demountable ring leaving the rim has been definitely overcome. We attach for your information complaints we have received of failures of straightsided rims. Yours faithfully, | ||
