MX {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 's WRAITH.

REPORT ON RUNNING 27-G-V1.

Further to the report issued by me under cover of BY.21/G/10.6.38, I attach hereto continuation report covering the running from 6,870 miles to 10,190 miles. The outstanding features which were open to criticism were :-

(a) Car Performance.
(b) Servo operation resulting in servo shudder.
(c) Improvement of clutches.

For both (b) and (c) we now have remedies, which are of such a nature as to be capable of being applied quickly to the Wraith car before they go into service.

With regard to the question of the loose contact point in the Delco distributor, we have had Mr. Kenington at Derby and explained the position and the need for a good fit between the rivet and the hole when fitting the rivet initially. We had this trouble ourselves a year or so ago, and we completely cured it by a better fitting rivet, which we ultimately made solid.

With these remarks I think Mx {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 's report shows steady progress, and goes to demonstrate the improved reliability of the Wraith, as a result of the time spent in this development.
