1209. To EJJ. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}5/MH.{M. Huckerby}19.7.39. CHASSIS DYNAMOMETER IN GARAGE. We are wanting to drive the chassis dynamometer drums in the corner of the Garage by an electric motor of 150 HP. The motor is to run at 750 r.p.m. and the cost in the catalogue is about £183. We are told the starter gear is about £200 and in order to get variable speed we want to use a Leyland torque converter which costs £200. 750 r.p.m. is the highest speed that we would use and it would then absorb the full 150 HP. Below this less power would be used. Can you say what the installation and cable charges would be. The shafts of the drums, torque converter and motor would be in line.
