Coil No 4405 off customer's chassis 88RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}
We have examined this coil on the bench and measured the resistances and inductances of the windings.
These appear to be OK and do not show any reason for the failure.
Upon placing this coil on the test rig however misfiring occurred.
The fault from observation appears to be a partially short circuited secondary winding occurring only when high voltages are induced as when normally in use. As there was not a complete failure to spark it looks as if sparking over is occurring on the secondary winding.

This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work.
