X8005 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to E? Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/LG31.1.28. RUBBER ENGINE MOUNTING. X8005 We broke the plates on the rubber engine mounting in under 10 hrs. running on the bump. We replaced them by two 19 S.W.G. plates in place of the original single plate. These are made of tempered spring steel and are the original shape shewn in the LeC. They have completed 50 hrs. running on the bump without trouble and are on the car now doing 10,000 miles. We therefore recommend that they should be instructed for the next ten EAC.14 chassis. We also recommend that the rubbers to be used should be those we have recently obtained from Messrs. Dunlops - a sample of which we attach. They are termed No.4 by Messrs. Dunlop.
