To BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} +4308 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 4/LG21.12.27. PHANTOM CHASSIS. ROAD SPRINGS, ETC. +8410 With reference to the proposed 6 Alpine Phantom cars (EAC.14.) We suggest that the following parts can be ordered :- 2 pair rear springs. 1550 lbs. 25% stiffer type - free camber 1.4" pos: 2 pair front springs. 1000 lbs..free camber 2.10" pos: This is in addition to those ordered in our Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 2/LG19.10.27. We shall then have sufficient springs on order for 10-EX and three other cars. If these further cars are built it will be politic to confirm our present tests on French roads before ordering more springs. We should be glad if you would specify a maximum weight for these springs for the sports cars and induce the makers to adhere to it as at present they are putting unnecessary weight into the stiffer springs. All the cars will require distance Hobson Telegages which will be exactly as fitted at present to customers cars. We shall require 1 further rev. counter exactly similar to the one we have at present on 10-EX No.18704 with fittings to Sch.728, the face to read from 0-3500 r.p.m., the ratio for the instrument .66 to 1, the length of cable required being 6ft.6ins We do not think that Rev. Counters will be a standard fitting on the EAC.14. cars but where called for contd :- | ||
