To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Y5100 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}8/LG12.11.28: 'SS{S. Smith}' DYNAMO PINION BEARING LUBRICATION. Y7100 It will be remembered we experienced trouble through seizure of the dynamo drive-bush through inadequate lubrication. This was corrected by cutting oil grooves in the bush as shewn on appended print V.404 and fitting an oil scoop (V.409) on the timing case. These experimental parts have run 60 hrs. on the test bed and been quite satisfactory. A similar oil scoop is shewn on Lec.2607 for the 20 HP. and suggest that a similar scheme, together with the grooved bush, should be applied to all further 'SS{S. Smith}' engines.
