SPECIAL ROAD SPRINGS - PHANTOM. ------------------------------ The Order Office will be sending into the Experimental Department tomorrow the three pairs of springs which have been produced by Messrs. Firths as outlined in the report I made after my visit to examine the first pair of American type springs made to the American drawings. In order to prevent confusion I am recapitulating the position as finally defined for Messrs. Firths in my letter BYL/G.28.12.27. as given below. The springs were to be finally produced as follows :- a/- One pair of springs as made by Messrs. Firths to the drawings with the exception that the top plate is made to conform to the top plate on the sample American spring. b/- One pair of springs to be made as a Chinese copy of the American. c/- One pair of springs to be produced of a design to Messrs. Firths, based on the American design, but departing slightly from same where Mr. Stansfield thinks he can improve upon the general scheme. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
