The Phantom III (3-AZ-22) which I took to Glasgow this year showed a very definite improvement in reduction of noise inside the body when running over the cobble-stones of the Glasgow streets. There was not, of course, an entire absence of noise, and strangely enough what there was was definitely more pronounced in the front compartment.

Remembering however how very bad 34-EX was last year under those conditions, the improvement was rather more than I had anticipated.

We are, as you know, proposing to have the rubber inserted between the springs and the axle on 3-AZ-38, and I hope that as the result of the improvement experienced in that car by the reduction of noise we shall be able to adopt the same procedure with the above car, and still further improve its silent running.
