The British Goodrich Co. Ltd.,
BURTON-ON-TRENT.

For the attention of Mr.Skellon.

Dear Sirs,

We have an experimental apparatus in which we should like to replace coiled springs by cylindrical rubber blocks.

The blocks must be 1" diameter and be to one of the following sets of particulars.

(a) Rate in compression between two parallel surfaces 4800 lbs/in. Max. compression .100. Free length 1.430.

or (b) Rate 9600 lbs/ins. Max. compression .080. Free length 1.550.

Will you let us know whether rubber can be used to give these results either totally enclosed or unrestricted on its outside diameter, preferably the latter.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
