CENTRALISED LUBRICATION.
--------------------

It appears to me that the possibility of fitting centralised lubrication on the first half of 'H' series (Phantom) has practically disappeared. When the scheme was first mooted we had completed designs, and a car was in existence completely fitted up with the Bijur scheme. Mr. Royce was not satisfied with the full Bijur, but thought we were going too far and started on a new scheme, and although the Drawing Office are clear, the experimental car is not likely to be completed and ready for test in less than six weeks or two months.

In the above date I am assuming we would have to do a fair amount of running to establish its reliability before the car goes to France. This being so, it seems to me impossible to fit the device to 'H' series, the first car of which will have to go on test on January 28th/1929.

I am raising this particular point because the 20 HP. chassis is in a similar position. We are ordering material for 'O' series. If the first half of 'H' series is not to carry the Bijur scheme, then the first half of 'O' series would not have to be fitted with it, and it would ease matters in the Drawing Office considerably and enable us to get the S.S. car forward much more quickly if this was arranged, as, to provide drawings which would permit of the car being the present standard or the Bijur, means in two Departments at least the making of a large number of drawings, which must of necessity have precedence of S.S. If the first half of 'O' series must be made suitable for either scheme.
