HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG82.1.23. 40/50 CHASSIS. HEAT UNDER SCUTTLE. Our Sales Dept. have asked us to standardise the leather flap fitted over the pedal slots including the exhaust cut-out pedal on the 40/50. This scheme was fitted to the Riviera Trials Cars last year and FN. reported that it affected a considerable improvement in reducing the heat under the front seats. We agree that anything that is done to reduce the heat coming from the slots in the floor-boards, makes a definite improvement in reducing the heat and also the smell in the front seats. We have, at various times, endeavoured to devise means of filling up the pedal slots but we found it difficult to make anything practicable. The arrangement recommended is a flat piece of leather fixed to the pedal plate. It only has narrow slots for the pedal, the pedal pushes the leather away and it relies on the flexibility of the leather to return it to the normal closed position.
