Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/Tln.4/SW. 3rd March, 1944. Turbo Transmitters, Ltd., 48a, Cambridge Road, Southport, Lancs. For the attention of Mr. Gatiss (of Brockhouse Eng. Co). Dear Sirs, Turbo Transmitter for Bentley. During the recent visit of Capt. Moore and Mr. Gatiss some design queries were raised, and some detail information requested by yourselves. We think that all the information you require immediately is contained below and in our enclosures. Starter Motor position. We find that it is possible to move the starter forward by the 3/8" you require, and that a square flange adaptor can be accommodated. We would remind you that space is required round the starter pinion for assembly. Drive from engine. The drawings of crankshaft bolts and details are enclosed, but in view of the decision to incorporate a flexibly mounted flywheel, we have also enclosed our arrangement drawing of the existing flexible flywheel marked up, to show how the existing pieces might be used, with economy in new pieces. Take-off for chassis lubrication drive. We enclose a detail of this piece. It is normally riveted to the sheet metal side cover, but no doubt can be attached directly to your box. Forward-reverse lever. A lot of installation trouble will be avoided if the existing gear lever (with the gate suitably blanked off) can be used as a forward-reverse lever. Apparently it is difficult to overcome a difference of about 3/8" between the fore and aft positions of the present and new shafts, and if this can be eliminated by altering the oil ways in the damper pump, we consider that the pump should be altered. If this information does not provide all you require, we shall naturally be very willing to search out whatever you may need. Yours faithfully, | ||
