X.4565 HSl/LG. 30th. Aug. 1923. Messrs. The Dunlop Rubber Co.Ltd., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Macbeth. With reference to the Balloon Tyres which we are running on one of our 40/50 H.P. Experimental Cars. Our Chief Engineer, Mr. F.H. Royce tried this car last week and he was impressed with the immense possibilities of these tyres. He expressed a wish that he would like his own 20 HP. car fitted with this type of tyre so that he could obtain personal experience with them. We should be pleased to hear from you when we could expect the wheels and tyres suitable for the 20 HP. car. Mr. Royce is going away on this car in 2 or 3 weeks time and we should very much like to be able to fit the tyres to his car. We assume that the 20 HP. wheels will have the 20" rims so that it will be possible at some time to try different sections of tyres. We would also suggest that you make up a further set of wheels for the 40/50 H.P. fitted with the proposed standard 20" rims so that we could carry out comparative tests with different sizes of tyres. We will let you have a report on the tests we have made with the Balloon tyres, shortly. Yours faithfully, | ||
