To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Raymond Mays - 4 1/4. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}10/E14.5.36

In a conversation with me yesterday he mentioned that on his fast run back from Monte Carlo on his Bentley the power fell off.

It was found, when the car went to Kingsbury, that some of the valves were distorted - (the inlet valves were the worst). I have made enquiries and I understand that they were not very bad and they were able to re-face them up.

I am not so much concerned about this particular episode with Mr. Mays as with what is likely to happen to Mr. Hall in the Le Mans race because of course that, one would imagine, will be a much more severe test than Raymond Mays'.
