FABRIC COUPLINGS. Herewith some information of the relative stiffness of the Bulged and Standard Hardy couplings. It will be noted that the bulged coupling has less internal damping than the standard type. We have no figures of life for the bulged coupling, but previous normal types we have tried having the same characteristics i.e. a greater percentage of rubber, have not stood up well. However, the bulged coupling has much more material to take the load so may overcome the trouble. Our main difficulty has been in holding the metal segments to the coupling as the bolts or rivets invariably fail before the fabric. It will be observed that the relative stiffness of the coupling is tremendously high compared to the rest of the transmission. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
