Weight of Noise Insulation Scheme.

Replying to C6/C.5.6.35.

Attached is a memo. where we analysed the increase in weight due to the noise insulation scheme carried out on a number of our experimental cars.

It is not fair to debit the insulation scheme with the weight of a steel rear seat board, and if this seat board is made in aluminium or wood the total weight of the scheme you will see comes to 21 lbs. 2 ozs. We are therefore at a loss to understand the figure of 50 lbs. which you quote.

The more we try cars with this insulation, the better we like it, and therefore the less we grudge the weight increase. It is still a question as to whether it is worth doing the whole of the rear boot, and if this is omitted, considerable weight is saved. Personally we like the whole scheme.
