The sample in castor oil had developed a brownish colour and had become very brittle, slight bending only being sufficient to produce fracture.

The P4. sample had hardly changed in colour and had become embrittled but not to the same extent as the castor sample.

The films were then washed with benzol followed by alcohol and allowed to stand exposed to the air for 24 hours. At the end of that time each sample had regained much of its original flexibility.

In conclusion, it is thought the material submitted would make a satisfactory lining for tubing carrying benzole or aviation spirit doped and undoped.

If used for oil at temperatures of 150°C. and subjected to vibration it is considered that the lining material would probably develop extensive cracks.
