-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.2/MA.20.11.35. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (d) The pressure arm should be rigid, and with a separate control spring; not flexible as on our holders. This is because any tendency to chatter is aggravated by a flexible pressure arm. (e) The "hump" of our spring does not provide sufficient clearance. The Morganite Co., have kindly loaned us a brush holder, of their own manufacture, which they have, themselves, evolved, in their search for the ideal holder. It embodies all the above features, in addition to which, it has been designed to give constant pressure, and correct direction of application of pressure, for all positions of the brush with wear. Recommendations. Our suggestions, based on the above, are as follows :- (1) That we look into the question of reversing the spring pressure arm on our negative holder in order to have it trailing. (2) That steps be taken, either by machining or otherwise, to ensure that the bearing wall of the holder has a deadflat surface. (3) That our dynamo armatures be redesigned to provide a greater number of commutator bars for a given number of armature conductors to reduce sparking. We have already made suggestions regarding a suitable armature to By/RD. Ha/Wst. | ||
