X 3398 To P.N. from E.F.C. EFC6/T18.12.20. X. 3398 - PETO & RADFORD BATTERIES. X 664 In answer to your PN{Mr Northey}7/DN/17.12.20, we have in all received four experimental P & R batteries, the first two of which put up rather poor performances on our bench tests, especially in the high rate discharge tests. Under cover of our EFC1/T18.5.20 we sent you a table of performances of experimental batteries, pp. 1, 2 and 3. The batteries now referred to are reference Nos. 3 and 8 on that table. More interest, however, attaches to the two later batteries received from Messrs. Peto & Radford, the first one of which is ref. No.14 on p.2 of the table, and the second of which is ref. No.40 on p.4 of table, (this last page having been sent to you under cover of our EFC3/T6.10.20, reporting the results of further experimental batteries to date). If it is convenient to you to look up these reports, you will find particulars of the performances of these batteries, suitably cross referenced. Battery No.14, as you will see from the figures, appeared rather poor in capacity for a given weight and you will also see from the high rate discharge curves B & C, that this battery put up a poor performance as compared with others. We still have this battery in use for experimental test (ordinary duty work) and it is still going well on this service. Contd. 6387 G 02-8-11 '60' H.S. L(001) VOL'R W.R | ||
