TO Mr. From E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} COPY TO ... EFC. ORIGINAL. E1/G27/9/19. RE "A" STEERING AND LONG CHASSIS. X.3465 X.3706 In reply to your memo BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}18/W24/9/19, would you kindly note that Mr. Royce says that we have got to have one of the two evils, "A" steering or long chassis, and since it is certain that we must have the long chassis, and this latter will get rid of "A" steering, then we had better not keep both, but have an extra number of long chassis, although we do not know the faults attached to this modification. He further remarks that this policy can be made to start anywhere where convenient. Your memo BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}18/W24/9/19 did not reach me until the actual hour of the coachbuilders conference in London, and I was therefore unable to send you information in time for the conference.
