(3) We detect a distinct improvement by connecting the suction-pipe to the center of the intake manifold instead of the rear end. This was done temporarily by connecting the pipe in place of one of the drain pipes to the intake bend, but we propose to fit the suction-pipe to the lower side of the pilot jet elbow. The effect appears to be to distribute the rich mixture more evenly over the six cylinders, so as to prevent any one cylinder "cutting-out".

(4) VACUUM TANK
We are proposing to finish this in dull nickel plate instead of black enamel. It appears impossible to bake the enamel on this tank at a high enough temperature to ensure a hard finish, because of the soldered joints.

The soft enamel rubs through to the priming coat while cars are on test.

We think the nickel plate (over copper) is better looking and more permanent and if it has any effect on temperature, it should be to reduce the absorption of radiant heat from the exhaust.

Yours very truly,

OY
