RE: A.Y. GOWAN.

With reference to C.6/G.10.5.35. we do not know the exact reason why Mr. Gowan is asking for smaller diameter road wheels or what he thinks he is going to gain by them, but we think it might be pointed out to them that the smaller wheels will increase the petrol consumption.

However, we are passing the necessary information on to the Estimating Department in order that they may let you know what the cost would be, and so far as we are concerned at this end there is no reason why the smaller wheels should not be fitted, although our view is that he should be discouraged in regard to this proposal, but no doubt you will consider this from a policy point of view and decide accordingly.
