A.{Mr Adams} ALLTREE. Motor Fittings and Accessories. 1247 AA{D. Abbot-Anderson}/B. RYDAL DENE, PILLING LANE, PREESALL, NR FLEETWOOD. 24th August 1938. Experimental Department, Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd, D E R B Y. Your ref: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}8/AP. Dear Sirs, In view of your earlier interest in my preselector control for synchromesh gears I am sending you a more recent print that shows the mechanism in greater detail, with a little more descriptive matter. This control is not yet available on any car, but, from the letters I am receiving about it, a number of car manufacturers are now showing a definite interest in this mechanism. All indications point to the early removal of the gear lever from the floor to the steering column and the provision of seating that extends the whole width of the compartment. Preselector control is now well-established and the continued increase in its popularity may be taken as an indication that the application of this form of gear change to the more popular synchromesh gear, with the advantages of a lighter change and more useful front compartment, would be well received. Yours faithfully, A.{Mr Adams} Alltree.
