Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} +7420 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M.5.28. PHANTOM STEERING. X.7430 X.8430 X.7420 With reference to RL/M28.4.28., we know the original Phantoms had 9.5" pendulum levers, but the longer lever on the front axle, and the increased number of revs. on the steering wheel, has caused the motion of the pendulum lever to be so much increased as to make nothing less than 10" possible if we are to fulfil the conditions of getting under the frame with a balanced tube, so that we think you will agree that it will be necessary to go to 10".
