For the attention of Commdr. Matravers.

Dear Sirs,

Further to our letter of the 15th inst., we enclose two prints ref. F.61281 and F.61282 in connection with the grinding of ball race tracks by Messrs. Ransome and Marles.

Print No. F.61281 shows particulars of the roller follower as supplied by you, and print No. F.61282, which we enclose for your information, shows particulars of the roller as it will be finished by Messrs. Ransome and Marles.

We wish to mention the following points in connection with print No. F.61281 -

(a) For grinding the ball race tracks Messrs. Ransome and Marles propose to spigot on the central 1.000" bore and clamp against the end faces. It is therefore very important that these surfaces should be to the sizes stated.

(b) The particulars of the outer track form have been taken from your drawing M.21504. Actually we require the rollers to be oversize to the same extent as those which you are supplying to our production dept.

(c) The depth of case is specified as 0.031", and this refers to the finished roller. The ball race tracks, as supplied by you, will be unmachined after hardening, and will have 0.008" grinding allowance. Therefore when the track dimensions are to F.61281, the depth of case should be 0.040" on these surfaces.
