8°F oil temperature using a winter oil, provided the battery is O.K.

With the sump oil temperature at 8°F the following engine R.P.M. were taken on

Mobiloil Arctic - 100
Castrol CW. - 70 - 75
Castrol AA. {D. Abbot Anderson} - 70 - 75
Shell Light - 40
Duckham's N.P.XX. - 30

A test on Summer oil, Castrol XL, shows that we can start easily with the oil temperature down to 23°F lower than this a start is made but takes longer.
