26th January, 1938.

Messrs. Joseph Lucas Ltd.,
Great King Street,
BIRMINGHAM.

For the attention of Mr. Toulmin.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter ref. X/LGT/9. of the 22nd. inst. we are sending you under separate cover one of the two units referred to. The other unit is not available at the moment, but will be forwarded later.

In connection with fitting the latest type of LR{Mr Ellor}7 regulator to this unit, we had hoped as stated in our last letter, to have a sub-base ready, to supply to you so that the mounting could be completed in the proper manner. There has however been some delay in making this, but we hope it will be ready for the second unit, which will be returned to you later.

We would like to mention one little point in passing. In glancing over the unit which we are sending back to you, it appeared that the complete series winding on the regulator, ended in terminal A, and not A1 as is your usual practice.

Likewise it appeared that the three-turn tapping was brought out to A1 and not A.{Mr Adams} We had no time to check this by test. It was also noted that you intend our dynamo field fuse to carry the regulator shunt winding current which will be in the neighbourhood of an extra half an ampere.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
