X4565 W/S. c. Sn.{Mr Sanderson} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. HP. CROALLS 20HP DEMONSTRATION CHASSIS. Referring to C/RWC3/W151223, we note that a Sales Conference have agreed that balloon tyres may be fitted to chassis - thepoints in connection with this which you should be aware of are;- (1) Special wheels required, but these can be obtained from the Dunlop Co, in the ordinary way. (2) No provision can be made to counter-balance the reduction on Steering Lock the larger tyres involve. (3) The tyres are distinctly noisy in use, so much so in fact at present, that the Exp. Dept. cannot pass them in view of this. (4) If the demonstration car is likely to be used in a town having stone sets, it should be remembered that with balloon tyres, every set can be felt as a slight shudder on the chassis as if the car were running with an equal number of flats on the tyres to correspond with the pitch of the sets.
