X.1019. RE WARLAND DEMOUNTABLE RIMS FITTED WITH DUNLOP DETACHABLE WIRE WHEELS. X.424

X.963. We yesterday had an opportunity of trying a car which is just about to be despatched, finally fitted with the above, which in the ordinary course ofevents is done just prior to delivery.

In the first place, we were alarmed with the effect these had in accentuating the tendency for steering wobbles at low speeds, the car itself being quite satisfactory with the standard Wheels. This point we further confirmed by trying these demountable rim wheels on other cars which were satisfactory for steering wobbles, but which had same when the wheels were fitted.

This particular front wheel fitted with the demountable rim, without the tyre, weighs 65 lbs, whereas in the standard wheel is only 40 lbs. The extra weight is also in the periphery of the wheels, which we know is bad for steering wobbles.
