X3599 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from BJ. Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} "Goshawk" Wheels and Tyres. X3599 X3602 BJ14/H22.2.22. Mr. Royce, In case the following information is not known to I think it might be of assistance :- Copy of HOY2/AG17.2.22. "Arising out of our various conversations re beaded and straight sided tyres, we were checking over the weights of such rims at the Rudge-Whitworth Works, Coventry, yesterday, and found a 32 x 4 1/2 straight sided rim is not less than 11.5 lbs. heavier than the corresponding size in beaded edged i.e. 820 x 120. You will doubtless have noticed a letter through from R.{Sir Henry Royce} yesterday provisionally agreeing standardisation of Rudge-Whitworth wheels, and negotiations are now pending with this firm for :- (a) Early delivery of experimental sets, (b) For bulk supplies, and their figures will show a very marked saving over the Dunlop. The actual amount we will advise you later." (Signed) Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} B.J. RECEIVED [Stamp with date FEB 1922] | ||
