RE. BARKERLITE COUPE ON INDIA 3. X.5830

It is very good of you to assist me in getting this body for Mr. Royce. Perhaps I had better give you a rough outline of the job. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} can let you have a couple specification.

The body base has to be altered in accordance with our instructions to enable the body to be mounted on India 3. by Derby. The date of delivery has been fixed on July 20th. That allows 8 days for fitting in Derby and bringing the body down here.

The wings and valances have to be made to suit 31 X 6 tyres and should be sent to Derby not later than Tues. next, not painted, for Derby to finally knock up to suit the chassis. This is the biggest job they have to do so it is essential that Barkers get these pieces ready, and inform Derby who will, no doubt, arrange to collect them.

The front wings will be without stays. Derby will fit standard sheet metal stays, bent to suit. The rear wing support will be provided by the coachbuilder.

If it is not troubling you too much, I would like to have a line from you early next week saying how nearly Barkers are keeping to this programme.

R.{Sir Henry Royce} is particularly keen to get this car on the road, as he is anxious not to make any more changes to the '20' until those of India 3. are available.
