SECRET.

SpectreCodename for Phantom III Gearbox.

Referring to the question of the synchromesh change on top and third of the SpectreCodename for Phantom III gearbox, we are issuing instructions immediately to try a 50° angle on the sleeve cam in place of 45°, as we are in agreement that this should be a definite improvement.

With regard to the question of gearbox noise, this confirms that you will arrange to change over a box from SpectreCodename for Phantom III on to the Vulture to obtain another reading on the effect of gearbox mounting, and to demonstrate also the effect of blanking off the change mechanism on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III chassis. In the meantime we are pushing ahead with a temporary scheme to modify the gearbox mounting on a SpectreCodename for Phantom III chassis so that the torque arms are carried on the small straight crossmember at the rear of the box instead of on the cross in the frame.
