X.3176 - CONDUCTIVITY TESTS OF ALUMINIUM ALLOYS -(METHOD OF TEST).

Re Conductivity Tests in Aluminium Alloys.

The method employed was intended to show the relative conductivity values under piston conditions.

Bars 18" long shaped as rough sketch below, were cast under piston conditions.

Two or three bars were heated up to the point C in an electric Furnace. A and B represent the position of fusible alloy tablets outside furnace and screened from its heat by asbestos at C and also from outside air currents by a hood.

Relative conductivities were obtained by the times taken for alloyd at A and B to melt when furnace was kept at 500°C.

Two or three bars could be done simultaneously.
