STANDARDISATION of CHASSIS PARTS.

Description of Parts.
Pressure Feed Pump located on the governor casing of the engine, the pump being of the limited compression type driven by an eccentric on the governor shaft.

Box 1: X 1752.
Box 2: Drawing No. G.2373(old type No. E.5935(new
Box 3: Part G.2373. List. E.5935/6.

Origin.
The necessity for removing the present pressure feed pump from the gear box, owing to the introduction of the self starter. The change in the type of pump from 20 lbs max. compression pressure to 2 1/2 lbs max. compression pressure on the actual petrol tank was made owing to a desire to eliminate the leakage of the blow off valve.

Experimental Test Report. Road Test Report.
One of these pumps has run for 5 months on chassis 58NA{Mr Nadin}, during which time it has done between 5000 & 6000 miles. Another has done 2500 miles on 7 CA and there is a further pump fitted to chassis 49GB recently delivered to Mr. Royce. We have never known of a failure with any of these pumps. They take a long time to build up the pressure but it is only what one would expect from a low compression pump. The pieces on examination are not worn, and are well oiled. The objections we have to the present type are relief valves and noisy automatic valves.
