Dear Sirs,

Upon the recommendation of our Aero Dept. we send you herewith a drawing of the rubber block dynamo drive EW.1438 we are using on one of our chassis engines.

The drawing shows the available space for the necessary flexibility.

We require that the coupling should have a torsional flexibility of .6° per lb.ft. torque and that the coupling must transmit a max. torque of 5 lbs.ft. actual, this figure not including any safety factor.

The coupling we have in mind is where the rubber is in shear and we should be pleased if you would let us know whether you have any couplings suitable in the space allowed or what suggestions you have to produce such a coupling.

Our present coupling is such that the rubber are in compression and trouble is experienced in scrubbing and subsequent wear when any flexible rubber such as give the above rating are used.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
