Contd. -2- HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG22.11.20. It will be seen from this that at full throttle a vacuum system cannot possibly maintain sufficient petrol to supply the engine. The only reason the vacuum system works is because a car is very seldom run full throttle for a sufficient length of time to drain the reservoir. We find that on an auto-vac system there is a reserve in the vacuum tank of 1/3 of a gallon. We have run an auto-vac on a 40/50 car and for ordinary conditions it gave very good service wihtout running out of petrol. But if we ran with the throttle full open at low speeds for a considerable time, the supply gave out. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
