Dear Hives:

X.4284 - RE DELCO X.4275.

Your letter Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LGS.6.21.

We have received prints from the Delco people of ignition parts which they propose to supply to us.

They are -

(1) single ignition head to clamp down in the position of our contact breaker housing; the manual advance being by a spiral spindle (Print X-13670 is enclosed).
(2) Coil for above (Print X-8126 enclosed)
(3) Dual ignition set of their "magneto replacement" type as used on the Pierce-Arrow and other cars.
We have not intended to both with this, as we anticipate that by the time we are in a position to use Delco outfits we shall have abandoned the magneto.

X-9845. The device is illustrated in the enclosed print

It will go almost without alteration in place of our magneto and of course has an automatic advance.

We have still to obtain from them a suitable generator and starting motor.

We find that a 5¼" generator can readily be mounted in place of the magneto and shall get one suitable for such a mounting from Delcos.

The motor will be of the type suitable for the present drive, similar to what Bijur have supplied, since to incorporate a flywheel drive experimentally is a big job, and the Delco type of starting gear is particularly noisy.

They are not able to give us a vertical spindle dual ignition set just yet because it is not through the experimental stage.

Contd.
