Dear Dick, Many thanks for your letter of October 3rd. You will appreciate that an advance of the ignition only applies to part throttle work. I am sorry that you did not have better luck with the Avons. I suggest that you have another set to get an average figure. As you surmise, motor car work stopped with the outbreak of hostilities.
