Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} mentioned that evidence of this could be seen since E's return to Derby.

Ws. Ws. pointed out that we had had to concentrate on various models, with the result that consideration could not be given to one type only.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} stated that he had not overlooked this, but he was hoping that ideas obtained from these new models could be applied to other models.

Sft.{Mr Swift} Sft.{Mr Swift} said there was no doubt economies could be applied to the 20/25, and efforts would be made in this direction.

By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} thought that the J.III axle tubes and other items which would assist in getting the cost down might be introduced after 'Z' Series.

Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} wondered why such improvements could not come in on the 'Z' Series, but By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} were in agreement that this was not possible, and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said that Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} could help quite a good deal in getting down labour costs if he would keep to his promises and get material in quicker; we should save in setting up. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} was 7 days behind with supplies on the 40/50 at the moment.

Mr. Brock. Mr. Brock referred to fitters having to tap 16-SBA holes in the Magnet case for the 20/25 H.P. dynamo which is to be introduced after the first 100 on 'X', because McGarry refused to drill these holes on account of his breaking drills.
Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} requires consideration giving to this matter.

Mr. Brock also mentioned that he had not seen the introduction of a number of improvements which would reduce 'times', suggested quite a long time ago.

Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} followed this matter up by stating that the suggestions were made about two years ago when we thought that J.III was coming along; if these had been adopted, a saving of £B4 on material, and £6 on nett labour per chassis would have been made. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} is investigating these suggestions to see what could be introduced on 20/25.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Ms. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} found during the Conference that Ms. was not co-opted on the Efficiency Committee. He thought he had previously arranged this, but Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} was of the opinion the arrangement applied only to obtaining Foundry costs for the "Peregrine".

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} stated Ms' job was to sit on this Committee and endeavour to cut down material costs in general.
