BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM HDY. {William Hardy} X235 HDY {William Hardy} 2/M7.2.33. C. to SG. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} SHOCK DAMPERS. The recent increase of width of inner lever (N.sch.3662) reduced the length of the outer bearing, and R. {Sir Henry Royce} has now instructed a modified arrangement of spring gland as shewn by N. schs. 3663. herewith, to regain some bearing lengbh. This drawing cancels N. sch. 3660. We have simplified the shape of the lever, avoiding the spot facing. We suggest that the radii in the corners of the square be obtained by drilling holes in order to avoid putting radii on the corners of the broach. A new casting is of course required for the damper body. HDY. {William Hardy} | ||
